Varun and Ghazal Alagh
The news sent jitters across the world about the safety of such baby products. Two years ago, when Varun and Ghazal Alagh became parents, during their research on the quality of baby products, they came across the fact of the presence of toxins such as parabens, SLS, mineral oil, and others in almost all the baby products. Varun and Ghazal call themselves “Google parents” as every product they buy for their child — from feeding bottles to shampoos to other products — is through a thorough research. They found that no Indian brands provides 100 percent toxin-free guarantee baby products and so, they had to order products from the US and the UK at steep costs. When they surveyed new parents, they realised that many parents were concerned about the same fact. These parents have either stopped using any kind of products on their babies or they import safe-marked baby products from other parts of the world. Their continuous interaction with the people made them realise the baby products category need a final solution as there’s a huge demand for safe and secured products. During mid-2016, the husband-wife duo founded Honasa Consumer Pvt. Ltd, a Delhi-based company that aims to provide natural and toxin-free personal care products for infants, kids, and young mothers. And by the end of 2016, the company unveiled its first brand called MamaEarth, which claims to provide a huge range of safe, toxin-free international standard products. “We are certified by Made Safe, a US-based non-profit organisation that provides a comprehensive human health-focused certification for non-toxic products. All the products are clinically tested to be hypoallergenic and carries no toxins, dyes, artificial fragrances or anything which is even close to the word ‘unsafe’,” says 32-year-old Varun, Founder and CEO of MamaEarth. Varun, an engineering graduate from Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) and an XLRI alumnus, has over 10 years of experience in FMCG segment. He adds that all products go through multiple testing processes. A microbiology test is first carried out to ensure there are no microbes formed. Each batch is then tested for key toxins to ensure the products are free from toxins. These products are tested for stability basis BIS standards in extreme conditions to ensure they maintain consistency and character. Then they are sent to Europe for clinical dermatology testing on humans. The launch Varun believes that launching non-toxic baby products was a unique and noble idea, which he claims no other product manufacturers are doing in India. The investors were convinced about the prospects of such products in the Indian market. In 2016, the company raised a pre-seed round of $125,000 from the consortium of investors. The raised funds were used for inventory, research and development, and marketing. Last year, the brand MamaEarth was launched at Amazon Launchpad, a platform for startups to feature their products, and FirstCry. It soon plans to expand to other online channels depending on relevance. Market target The Indian maternity and baby care products market has been witnessing tremendous growth in the last few years in comparison to the other emerging markets across the world. According to the statistics collected by ResearchMoz, the baby care market in India will progressively grow at a 17 percent CAGR within the time frame from 2014-2019. “We currently have seven products in the baby care segment. We plan to launch our pre-natal and post-natal care range in 2017. We are also working on categories like feeding equipment and soft clothing for 2018. Our ambition is to take one percent of this market over the next five years through share gain and category expansion,” says Varun. Stiff competition There are many brands which are competing to cater to the baby product category in India. Of many brands, Johnson & Johnson holds the largest market share. In 2015, Johnson & Johnson (India) continued to lead sales, recording a value share of 75 percent. The next in the competition list was Dabur India (10 percent) followed by Himalaya Drug Co (three percent), and Wipro (two percent). When asked about fighting the existing giants in this category, Varun quips, “We believe we have superior and safer products than anyone else in the market.” He adds that he plans to educate the consumer about toxins as well as about the benefits of using natural ingredients present in his products. His customer acquisition strategy is purely focussed on digital content. He wants consumers to read about the problems that his products solve and why his product is the best in the market.

Long hair, don’t care, right? Well, when it comes to the potential to get a little too toasty with that much hair draped down your neck, you might start to care a bit about how to style your strands. Plus, who doesn’t love to rock a gorgeous new ‘do? To help you look and feel cool all year long, ahead we share five of our favorite braided hairstyles for long hair. Grab your brush and follow along!
Forget about traditional braids—when Dutch braids are an option, they will forever win over our hearts. These inverted beauties can help add the look of volume and chic style to your hair—and they’re super-easy to create! Split your hair into three sections just as you would for a traditional French braid—only this time, you’ll braid underhand instead of over. When it comes to double Dutch braids, all you have to do is part your hair down the middle and braid from your hairline all the way down to your ends, adding in more hair with every weave. Once you reach the ends, tie them off with clear elastics and fall in love with your functional, fashionable look. Pro tip: Instead of taking your braids out at the end of the day, sleep on them to reveal gorgeous waves for second day hair.
LONG HAIRSTYLE #2: FISHTAIL HIGH PONYTAIL
Take your high ponytail to the next level by fishtailing your strands all the way to the end. To perfect the look, add a dollop of the L’Orรฉal Paris Advanced Hairstyle AIR DRY IT Undone Style Cream to damp hair and let your hair air dry. Once your hair is dry, smooth your hair back into a ponytail and secure it in place with a hair tie. Tie a small section of hair around the base of your ponytail to conceal the hair tie before fishtailing your entire ponytail to the ends. Once you reach the end, tie it off and fluff up your braid to create an extra-textured pony.
LONG HAIRSTYLE #3: BOHO TWIST BRAID
The best part about long hair is that you can rock intricate boho styles better than anyone. To see what we mean, try bringing this gorgeous summer hairstyle to life. Simply pull your hair over to one shoulder, split it into two equal sections and clip one of them out of the way so you can work with one at a time. Next, split the section you’re working with into two smaller sections, twist them both individually towards the same direction and then spin them together in the opposite direction. This is called a rope braid. Once it’s spun just right, tie it off with a mini elastic and gently tug at the rope to give it more volume. Do the same thing with the other section and tie both together for a fluffy, gorgeous look.
LONG HAIRSTYLE #4: VIKING BRAIDS
Vikings might have been known for being strong warriors—but they also rocked some killer braids. Perfect for festival season, days at the beach, or a serious fashion statement for a night out, this combination of French, Dutch, fishtail, and cornrows can look seriously fierce. To get the look, start by applying a pump of the L’Orรฉal Paris Advanced Hairstyle AIR DRY IT Ruffled Body Mousse to damp strands. Once your hair is dry, create a deep side part and braid an array of different braids from your hairline back to the crown of your head, tying each off with a mini elastic. Gorgeous, right?!
LONG HAIRSTYLE #5: PULL-THROUGH BRAID
Not the best braider but want to add pretty detailing to your long, luscious locks? This is the braid for you! Here’s a hint: It’s not really a braid, just a series of ponytails perfectly bound together to make it look a lot more intricate than it really is. To achieve the look, create a half-ponytail at the crown of your head, followed by another small ponytail an inch under it. Next, split the top ponytail around the second ponytail and secure it with another elastic directly under it. Continue this process all the way to the ends. Voila!

A coffee break in the United States and elsewhere is a short mid-morning rest period granted to employees in business and industry. An afternoon coffee break, or afternoon tea, often occurs as well.
The coffee break originated in the late 19th century in Stoughton, Wisconsin, with the wives of Norwegian immigrants. The city celebrates this every year with the Stoughton Coffee Break Festival. In 1951, Time noted that
The term subsequently became popular through a Pan-American Coffee Bureau ad campaign of 1952 which urged consumers, “Give yourself a Coffee-Break – and Get What Coffee Gives to You” John B. Watson, a behavioral psychologist who worked with Maxwell House later in his career, helped to popularize coffee breaks within the American culture.
Coffee cups and happy spirits
Coffee breaks usually last from 10 to 20 minutes and frequently occur at the end of the first third of the work shift.
In some companies and some civil service, the coffee break may be observed formally at a set hour. In some places, a cart with hot and cold beverages and cakes, breads and pastries arrives at the same time morning and afternoon, an employer may contract with an outside caterer for daily service, or coffee breaks may take place away from the actual work-area in a designated cafeteria or tea room.
More generally, the phrase “coffee break” has also come to denote any break from work. Coffee was initially used for spiritual reasons. At least 1,100 years ago, traders brought coffee across the Red Sea.
At first, the Arabians made wine from the pulp of the fermented coffee berries. This beverage was known as qishr (kisher in modern usage) and was used during religious ceremonies.
Coffee drinking was prohibited by jurists and scholars meeting in Mecca in 1511, but the subject of whether it was intoxicating was hotly debated over the next 30 years until the ban was finally overturned in the mid-16th century. Use in religious rites among the Sufi branch of Islam led to coffee’s being put on trial in Mecca: it was accused of being a heretical substance, and its production and consumption were briefly repressed.

Coffee, regarded as a Muslim drink, was prohibited by Ethiopian Orthodox Christians until as late as 1889; it is now considered a national drink of Ethiopia for people of all faiths. Its early association in Europe with rebellious political activities led to Charles II outlawing coffeehouses from January 1676. Frederick the Great banned it in Prussia in 1777 for nationalistic and economic reasons.

Quite a number of members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church also avoid caffeinated drinks. In its teachings, the Church encourages members to avoid tea, coffee, and other stimulants.
Abstinence from coffee, tobacco, and alcohol by many Adventists has afforded a near-unique opportunity for studies to be conducted within that population group on the health effects of coffee drinking, free from confounding factors.
One study was able to show a weak but statistically significant association between coffee consumption and mortality from ischemic heart disease, other cardiovascular disease, all cardiovascular diseases combined, and all causes of death. For a time, there had been controversy in the Jewish community.
Whether the coffee seed was a legume and therefore prohibited for Passover. Upon petition from coffeemaker Maxwell House, the coffee seed was classified in 1923 as a berry rather than a seed by orthodox Jewish rabbi Hersch Kohn, and therefore kosher for Passover.
